…why there is a bust of Emerenz Meier born in 1874 in Schiefweg near Passau, a well-known author and regional poet writing in the dialect of the area, standing on the Danube Quay?

It’s because Emerenz had a small inn in the Bräugasse nearby. She emigrated after a short while to the city of Chicago.
Her stories were printed in a Passauer newspaper in 1893 for the first time and two of her plays were perfomed in the Passauer Citytheater.
The bust of the writer shows her in the traditional costume of the Bavarian Woods. In 1991 all her works were reprinted in a book of two volumes.
